and the Quality “Attitude” :
Because quality is not purely the result of
a system of quality management, but depends on the individual
contributions of various sectors, the quality policy
of the ASB Group can be illustrated by means of a series
of facts and achievements.

Both
sites are certified under ISO 9001 version
2000 and MSB is also AS9100 certified (see
our rating from LRQA, link). ASB
and MSB are also regularly audited by independent
organisations and the company’s results
are freely available.

MSB
is an accredited “Investor in People”
and ASB has taken part in the first national
programme of the Certification of Skills.
Because our professional activities are based
on individual skills, the ASB Group aims to
maintain levels of motivation and performance
by means of ongoing training and improvement
programmes. |

In
partnership with one of its shareholders,
the ASB Group has evolved an ongoing improvement
programme named “World Class”.
This is not just a single one-off programme
but a genuine company-wide project that involves
both the management and all personnel in a
move towards profound, continuous and durable
change. A panel of tools and methodology is
used in conjunction with a system of regular
notation for “criteria of excellence”.

Final
controls are of paramount importance in the
demonstration of quality
of finished products regardless of the level
of automation used during production stages.
All thermal batteries are subjected to individual
measurements, in some cases on a recurring
basis such as electrical controls, X ray examinations,
sometimes with several plates, leakage rate
measurements, mechanical interface, templates
etc. Random samples from each batch of batteries
are taken for lot acceptance testing which
is sometimes conducted under mechanical and
climatic environmental conditions. The acceptance
of a Thermal Battery is based on the lot acceptance
results which are based on strict rules of
homogeneity and traceability. |

Just
as ASB and MSB suppliers are chosen on the
basis of strict selection criteria,
ASB and MSB are regularly measured by their
clients via satisfaction questionnaires. These
help us to identify any new key requirements
on the part of our clients and prioritise
to our mutual benefit. |
